Public services – staff in endangered areas

Workers who are working in the public service sector often enter crowded spaces as part of regular and emergency field interventions to check the seriousness of the situation before carrying out further action. These spaces can present a hazard due to the presence of high concentrations of flammable and toxic gases due to equipment failure or rupture.

It is therefore necessary to carry out a check using a portable gas detector before entering. This can be done using a manual or automated sampling system. Using a manual sampling system, the user draws in air to filter the solid particles before entering the device by pressing the pump. The automated sampling system contains a motorized pump that draws in air itself and filters it before entering the device.

From our company’s range, we recommend the GasAlertMicro 5 multi-gas portable detector for this application. It can simultaneously monitor and display up to five different gases. Options of the standard model for the detection of toxic gases, the PID model for the detection of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and the IR model for the detection of CO2 are available.
