Honeywell announced new Searchline Excel Plus and Searchline Excel Edge open path flammable hydrocarbon gas leak detectors

In August 2021 American company Honeywell announced Searchline Excel Plus and Searchline Excel Edge open path flammable hydrocarbon gas leak detectors. By using state of the art design of optics and optical elements, with advanced algorithms and diagnostics, Honeywell’s Searchline Excel Plus and Edge improve upon the current generation, to deliver unsurpassed performance, even in some of the most demanding environments.

Searchline Excel Plus is a short/medium range, open path flammable hydrocarbon gas detector, addressing the safety instrumented systems approach to layered detection. Searchline Excel Edge is a long range, open path flammable hydrocarbon gas detector, addressing perimeter/fence line monitoring applications. They comprise of a cooperative transmitter and receiver pair that uses near-band infrared absorption to measure and rapidly warn of the presence of a flammable hydrocarbon gas leak.

Searchline Excel Plus and Edge deliver an improved beam size and profile with increased optical coupling between transmitter and receiver, which can produce both increased uptime and a flatter response to the primary flammable hydrocarbon gasses. A new advanced alignment scope for all versions of the Searchline Excel Plus and Edge transmitters and receivers simplifies the alignment process. Improved diagnostics include the measurement of alignment accuracy, enabling warning of non-optimal coaxial alignment of either the transmitter or the receiver.

Searchline Excel Plus and Edge are globally certified by ATEX, IECEx and cULus for use in Zone 1 or 21 or Class 1 Div 1 hazardous areas and is rated as both IP66 and IP67. Searchline Excel Plus and Edge deliver Marine certifications, and Safety Instrumented Systems certification by TÜV to SIL 2.

The Bluetooth interface allows the detector’s functionality to be configured, checked and maintained remotely, using an Android-based mobile device running the Honeywell Fixed App.

Searchline Excel Plus and Edge feature a standard 3-wire (sink or source selectable through wiring) or 4- wire isolated industry-standard current loop output with HART® together with Modbus and three relays for signaling alarms and fault. A high-visibility Halo indicator allows the detector status to be seen, even from a distance.
